Description
A color view of the pride of the Soviet airship fleet. From 1932 to 1942, the Star of Vladivostok plied the airspace between Moscow, Vladivostok, and Petropavlovsk. When the USSR was invaded, Soviet airships played a significant (if forgotten) role in reconnaissance and supply. In 1942, the Star of Vladivostok was dismantled and the duraluminum used in the construction of aircraft and communications towers. The flight log and much information about this ship (and the Soviet airship program in general) were destroyed during the Great Patriotic War...

poor old ship didnt deserve such a fate. should have at least been stored in a secured hangar until the times of trouble were over
